TIA LONG

Contemporary Realist Painter
Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Tia Long is a contemporary realist painter whose work explores atmosphere, memory, and the quiet beauty of everyday spaces. Working primarily in oil, she creates paintings that balance realism and impressionistic softness, inviting viewers to pause within moments of stillness, connection, and reflection.

Her work has been exhibited in juried exhibitions and group shows across Ontario and is held in private collections throughout Canada

ARTIST STATEMENT

My work explores the quiet emotional weight of ordinary spaces and objects.

Working from personal observations and photographs, I am drawn to moments that might otherwise go unnoticed: a drink left behind, afternoon light on a tabletop, a doorway at dusk, or the traces of a recent conversation. Through a restrained palette and softened edges, I seek to create paintings that feel both familiar and slightly suspended in time.

While rooted in realism, my approach is less concerned with precise representation than with atmosphere. I am interested in the tension between presence and absence, and in the stories that emerge from what is left unsaid.

Influenced by contemporary realism and cinematic light, my paintings invite viewers to slow down and find meaning in the everyday.
